The Tease

It sat there innocently enough, but temptation lurked in its every delectable curve.
"What?" I asked, frowning.
The french tart said nothing, poised just so, enticing me.
"Stupid diet..." I muttered, giving in.

This was written for the Trifextra Challenge for this weekend :)

And now on to our quick weekend challenge.  This weekend, we're sending you back to English 101 to revisit the concept of literary devices.  We want you to give us a 33-word example of personification.  Wait.  What?  You forget what that is?  It's the practice of attaching human traits and characteristics with inanimate objects, phenomena and animals (http://literary-devices.com).  It's when the wind howls, the car door grunts, and the front porch shrugs its shoulders under the weight of its own history.  Remember?  For some writers, it's the backbone of their art.  This weekend, we want you all to give it a whirl, and we can't wait to see what you come up with.  Good luck!

  1. Your tart is so polite, the ones I run across here scream, "EAT ME, YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!"

  3. Seems as if we have a theme going on this week. Mine is about cookies. And now I feel the strange need to walk to the bakery across the street to buy tarts.

  16. LOL - I've been dealing with that same issue since Christmas... Cookies keep enticing me, just like that strawberry tart. I can't seem to fight them! Very good personification.

  18. I allowed the cheesey fiesta potatoes to do the same to me yesterday and instantly regretted it. A French tart however, THAT would have been worth it.
